Tetris

Tetris is one of the most iconic puzzle games ever created, originally designed by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. The game challenges players to arrange falling blocks called tetrominoes to create complete horizontal lines. When a line is filled, it disappears, earning the player points and creating more space for subsequent blocks.

This browser-based version lets you play Tetris directly in your web browser without any downloads or installations. Use arrow keys to control the falling blocks and challenge yourself to beat your high score!

• Start the game: Click "Start Game" to begin playing.
• Move left/right: Use left and right arrow keys to move the falling piece horizontally.
• Rotate: Press the up arrow key to rotate the piece 90 degrees.
• Speed up: Press the down arrow key to make the piece fall faster.
• Hard drop: Press spacebar to instantly drop the piece to the bottom.
• Clear lines: Fill an entire horizontal row with blocks to clear it and score points.
• Game over: The game ends when the blocks reach the top of the grid.

Mobile Touch Controls

• Swipe left/right: Move the falling piece horizontally.
• Swipe down: Soft drop - make the piece fall faster.
• Swipe up: Rotate the piece 90 degrees.
• On-screen buttons: Use the control buttons below the game board for move, rotate, and hard drop.

• Build evenly: Try to keep the stack relatively even. Building too high on one side makes it harder to place new pieces.
• Use the gaps: Create gaps intentionally that can be filled by specific piece shapes.
• Plan ahead: Look at the next piece that will appear and plan where it will go.
• Don't rush: Take your time to position pieces correctly. Use the down key strategically.
• Aim for Tetris: Clearing four lines at once (a Tetris) gives you the most points!
• Keep the stack low: The lower you keep your stack, the more time you have to arrange pieces.
